Dolphin Quest Bermuda Wins Local Award
Dolphin Quest Bermuda was one of two camps on island to receive the SunSmart Award of Excellence by the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre in 2008. The SunSmart program is a campaign the Centre launched to educate the public on ways of protecting children from the sun.

Counselors interested in participating in the SunSmart program must attend a training session in the spring. The session focuses on teaching the counselors how to prevent kids from being sunburned during hot summer months. During the summer camps, they implement various SunSmart practices. Representatives from the Cancer and Health Centre then visit each camp to grade them on their efforts.
This is the second time Dolphin Quest has won the award – the first was in 2006.
A total of 19 summer camps participated in the 2008 SunSmart program. Besides Dolphin Quest, the Bermuda National Trust was also presented with the SunSmart award of excellence in 2008.
According to Pauline Girling, marketing and public relations director for the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, representatives found Dolphin Quest and the Treasure Seekers to be doing an outstanding job in combining summer fun and using sun protection strategies.
Ms Girling said, "Sun exposure is the most preventable risk factor for all skin cancers including melanoma.” She continued, "Both camps, Dolphin Quest and National Trust's Treasure Seekers History Camp, demonstrated their commitment to keeping their campers safe in the sun whilst having fun at summer camp."
